Our story (Bryan’s Version)
They say it comes when you least expect it and at the time, I was focused on myself, living in New York, working to get to grad school - not looking for anything or anyone. If it weren’t for good friends I would’ve never met Annalisa, but when I did, I knew she was in the right place - I was just afraid it was the wrong time.
We had something going. She was beautiful, smart, and fun. She had great friends and a loving family, and for some reason she liked me. I thought it could become something special but was worried about the fact that I was going to leave. As I planned my move from New York, I told her I wanted to try to make it work, but would understand if she didn’t. I don’t know who gave her the advice to try, but I’m incredibly happy they did.
We went through COVID hopping back and forth between our parents’ houses. A strange way to meet the parents, but it was an early look behind the curtain. It made us closer and made the commitment to long distance for the next two years that much easier.
Together we traveled the world, met each others’ friends, and made new friends. We moved to Dallas and have started the building blocks of a life together there. I’ve never been happier and it’s because of her. I hope to make her as happy as I am for the rest of our lives.
Our story (Annalisa’s Version)
Bryan and I met in New York City after my roommates brought me to their new friend “Cosmo’s” apartment for a pregame. Bryan was Cosmo’s roommate and the two of us hit it off right away!
I didn’t see Bryan again until a Halloween group date organized by our mutual friends, where, donning our costumes, we all sat at a sushi bar laughing all night. The next day Bryan asked me to go on a date just the two of us!
Fast forward, the pandemic forced us out of NYC. We flew to Bryan’s parents’ house, where I met them for the first time and stayed a whole week. For the next several months, we drove back and forth between our parents’ homes. I used one of those 6-hour drives to secretly ask Bryan NYT’s The 36 Questions That Lead to Love - I’m convinced it actually worked! (I didn’t tell him about the carefully selected questions until years later!)
For the next two years, we did long distance (not for the faint of heart!) while Bryan was in graduate school. We traveled anywhere and everywhere for a weekend together. The final stop, though, was Dallas where Bryan got a job and asked me to move with him.
One year later, Bryan proposed while I was home in California to see the Taylor Swift concert! He crashed the girls trip, surprising me outside my parents’ home with a bouquet and a ring!
I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate our next chapter. Thank you to everyone for the support in our journey and see you in California on September 28, 2024!
